Pergola Halloween Decor – We’ve entered the Henderson era of Halloween (or so I thought…read on). This should come as no surprise considering my unrequited love for Christmas. We never decorated the outside of the house for Halloween because our neighborhood in LA wasn’t a big trick-or-treating area and there were very few kids who wanted to be scared. Well, they’re about 8 and 10 now and I get a lot of pressure/excitement from them (the front door doesn’t really count, fyi, I was calling the one I had on lockdown). Message received and mission attempted. I was so excited – ready to do another fun project to work on with my kids.
But we were not on the same page. They wanted bloody hands, bloody zombies, two-headed, legless, hideous monsters that crawl out of the ground and scream at you as you walk by. I should have known what would happen—that if I went this way, they would think they were too afraid to be home. So after being super creepy and super excited on my mood board, I made it creepy and a little scary and prayed they’d be on board (I’ve been showing them things as they come and so far so good.)
Pergola Halloween Decor
We’re starting from scratch – we have nothing for the outdoors and need to invest and come up with some solid ideas (and buy all the goodies before they sell out) to be a Halloween house by October. We’re also only doing a small portion of the property (could easily build a Halloween theme park here every year – haunted barn, haunted tree-lined driveway, but we’re going slow). So I thought of it as a design project – create a mood board, come up with a look and feel, and then choose products that would work for it. I also want to make it clear that I will have help with this – it will be a lot of work and I don’t want other mums to feel pressured to grow up. If I didn’t have Gretchen, I would call her. Hopefully this will provide some fun ideas and inspiration, but no pressure.
35 Pergola Ideas To Update Your Outdoor Designs
We probably won’t get trick-or-treating where we are (so backed off the street), but our neighborhood ends and I’m still standing in front of Dustin (our UPS guy who is so cute and I want to decorate my front porch). Of course, every guest we invite (and mostly for children).
For this one, I’m thinking giant spider webs (I’ve loved them from Target for years), a skeleton or two, giant spiders, pumpkins, and a ton of black spray-painted branches topped with wood. I also bought some hanging bats that are bigger and more impressive. As usual, I’m not sure what will go where until I start playing.
The covered walkway is where the kids come home every day, and it’s what you’ll see the most (much more than the front porch). So it seemed like the perfect opportunity to wrap it in spooky clothes or netting, hang ghosts or witches, or maybe attach extra black branches to each post. I don’t know yet, but there’s definitely a chance.
10 Creative Ways To Decorate Your Gazebo For Halloween
The old house on the property (dating back to 1850 – possibly a legit haunted house) is MATURE due to some boarded up windows and the graveyard in front of it. We’re trying to figure out if A. we really have to do this (it’s a lot of work) and B. how to fake the boarded up windows so it doesn’t ruin the facade and the house No hate. Rainy, but these inspirations are so fun:
I also really wanted to make a cemetery somewhere and I found great inspirational photos for them. It could be in front of the old farmhouse, or even better (but less noticeable) it would be the garden around our driveway. I think it would be great if I moved out, but I’m not sure it would have enough of an impact to make it worth the effort.
So I shopped around and got some staples that I know I’ve always used and loved (spiders, cobwebs, creepy stuff) and then added some animatronics that I thought were stretchy (I love the headless Victorian dress). This is one I’m either thinking of buying or on my way to.

Stained Ghosts with Lights (Set of 3) | Halloween Bats with Glowing Eyes (Set of 3) | Crows (Set of 4)
Light up the Ghostly Dress | Creepy Animatronic Sitting Scarecrow | Standing Ghost Girl (which I bought)
FYI I’m bringing this girl back – she came and is amazing but the kids (after they approved her) said “no way”. But the headless dress is fantastic. The scarecrow hasn’t arrived yet so we’ll see (I think we actually got another one that didn’t have a face – just burlap)
33 Best Outdoor Halloween Decoration Ideas: Projects And How-tos
I’m afraid/I know it’s going to be a lot of work, but like Christmas decorations, I hope it’ll be worth it (now I’m sure de-halloweening can be extreme). We’ll see what we end up with and if any of you have suggestions on how to do this in the PNW (ie with rain) let me know. I’m so excited – these touchpoints and reasons to celebrate all year round (especially when the kids are old enough to help but young enough to still want to help :))

Yes, yes, yes! In fact, I think this is the best way to create simple, easy and cheap decorations. I like to use pieces that I can enjoy from mid-August through Thanksgiving. One way to simplify the process is to focus on neutral Halloween and fall decorations that go together.
Even if you add more Halloween-related items to your decor, as long as you keep them simple and small, you can easily incorporate them into your regular fall decor. Plus, using more neutral colored Halloween decorations allows them to blend in with the fall decorations you already have around your home.
Tip: Before the Halloween decorations start and after Halloween is over, simply turn the lantern so the face is hidden! Get double duty on these cute pumpkins wherever you can!
How To Cover A Pergola
My advice for this is the same as for other individual holidays like Valentine’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day. If you’re looking to decorate on a budget, here are a few key things I stick to:
A quick search revealed no scientific data for this. However, I don’t think anyone could disagree that a fun lantern isn’t an important Halloween decoration, even for those of us who like simple family relationships Do you agree?!
