Yes, additional materials are needed for our pergolas. Our pergolas require pressure treated lumber for the exterior posts as well as (on some models) 2×6 pressure treated lumber for the main beams and rafters. Depending on your installation, you may also need our bolt-on brackets for surface mounting. Please use our website search function to locate your specific pergola.

Most of our pergolas can be modified to some extent. Traditional or beam and roof pergolas can be easily modified. This requires cutting the vinyl to size and fitting the post. When you modify the pergola, be sure to square it with your wood posts and 2x6s. When cutting vinyl sleeves, we recommend using a fine tooth saw blade. If you are modifying a pergola, it can technically be done, but it is complicated and time consuming. If you have more questions about customization, please call us at 800-282-9346

Unfortunately, no – but you can change the size of the pergolas we offer to suit the size you need.

We do not provide installation services. We recommend contacting a local fence and deck company in your area. The ideal installer will have experience working with vinyl products.

No, the slats do not close completely. They can be adjusted at an angle of 45 degrees on each side and provide 90% shade coverage. Always leave 4” between washboards. The reason they are not completely sealed is to allow rain or snow to pass through freely and not swim on top of the pergola.

We recommend using only the Vita bolt down bracket. We designed and tested these brackets for best performance with our pergolas. Hardware store shelf brackets are not recommended.

No, we do not recommend installing over patio pavers. Patio pavers are not secure enough and will cause movement in the pergola over time. Ideally bolted brackets should be attached to a concrete slab patio or wooden deck. (See instruction guide for complete details)

No, we recommend not adding a solid roof to any of our pergolas. A hard roof can add extra weight to the pergola due to rain/snow or possible wind uplift.
